A new approach to the treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterium skin infections caused by iatrogenic manipulation: Photodynamic therapy combined with antibiotics: A pilot study

•Recently,the number of nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) skin infections caused by iatrogenic procedures has been increasing; due to the nonspecific clinical manifestations and nonstandard treatment guidelines, these infections are often misdiagnosed and challenging to treat. In experimental studies and small case studies have suggested that PDT is effective, usually as combination therapy, and can improve treatment efficacy, shorten antibiotic use duration and reduce recurrence.Due to there are few clinical studies. As a pilot study, this study confirmed the clinical effect of photodynamic therapy.
