摘要

•Pouch volvulus is a rare complication of laparoscopic IPAA surgery and extremely rare following open surgery.•Adhesions may not formed following open IPAA surgery which may lead to pouch volvulus.•Obliteration of space between the pouch mesentery and the sacral space important to prevent future small bowel herniation.
