•Endo-TLIF achieve maximal preservation of normal musculo-ligamentous and bone structures.•The novel C-shaped working cannula place the cage into intervertebral space safely and quickly.•Endo-TLIF has a more positive influence in improving postoperative LBP and analgesic ratio.•Endo-TLIF manifests less normal tissue damage, faster recovery.
