Near-infrared triggered ropivacaine liposomal gel for adjustable and prolonged local anaesthesia

•Ropivacaine was combined with near-infrared photosensitive liposomes to achieve photo-regulated analgesia.•In situ thermosensitive gel was added to prolong the residence time of the liposomes around the nerve.•This drug delivery system effectively solves the disadvantages of traditional local anesthesia injection and reduces the toxic and side effects of free Ropivacaine.
