摘要

•Structures of four clocks with similar rising and falling automata are analyzed A systematic design approach is proposed to reconstruct an unknown pagoda clock.•16 feasible mechanisms with linkage, gear, or cam are generated.•One of the feasible designs is selected and verified through kinematic analysis and prototype testing.
