Experimental and modelled thermophysical behaviour of methyl levulinate (methyl 4-oxopentanoate) and n-alkanol systems

•A thermophysical study of methyl levulinate (methyl 4-oxopentanoate) with n-alkanols (C1-C4) is presented.•Density, speed of sound, refractive index, and excess molar enthalpy were measured.•From experimental data excess properties were obtained and correlated.•The pc-SAFT EOS was used to model the volumetric and calorimetric results.
