Simultaneous retrieval of aerosol size and composition by multi-angle polarization scattering measurements

•We built a multi-angle polarization measurement system for a single particle to measure the scattering characteristics of aerosols.•We present a retrieval method to simultaneously estimate the aerosol complex refractive indices (ACRI) and particle size distribution (PSD) of aerosols based on the measured polarization scattering signals.•The proposed retrieval method benefits the research of climate modeling and atmospheric monitoring.
