Prediction and modeling of the basic properties of biomass after torrefaction pretreatment

•Biomass torrefaction model was established based on the real experimental results.•Higher torrefaction temperature resulted in better quality of biomass.•The established torrefaction model was validated by the results from literatures.•The accuracy of two stage torrefaction model was better than single stage torrefaction model.•The accuracy of quadratic equation was better than linear fitting equation.
