Analysis of gas-cooled fast reactor integral shielding experiment: “Wuerenlingen iron benchmark experiment (PROTEUS)” using SuperMC

•An accurate 3-D pin cell computational model of the PROTEUS reactor has created with SuperMC.•Detailed neutronics calculation of the PROTEUS shielding integral has been accomplished.•The calculated spectrum is consistent with measurement, except for higher neutron energies.•56Fe data from different evaluations show different reaction rates due to inelastic scattering.
