Two Cu(II)-based coordination polymers: Treatment activity on diabetic nephropathy via reducing aldose reductase activity and blood glucose concentration

Two new Cu(II)-based coordination polymers, one of which is the {[Cu(mu(3)-fdc)(mu-dptztz)(H2O)]center dot DMF}(n) (1) and the another one {[Cu(mu(3)-tdc)(mu-dptztz)]center dot DMF}(n) (2) (fdc = 2,5-furandicarboxylate, dptztz = 2,5-di(4-pyridyl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole tdc = 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate,) were synthesized by the Cu(NO3)(2)center dot 3H(2)O and dptztz reacting with different carboxylate ligands (H(2)fdc and H(2)tdc for 1 and 2, respectively). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and also elemental analysis were used to complete the study of the compounds. Moreover, the protective activity of the compounds on diabetic nephropathy was assessed. Firstly, the activity of the aldose reductase was measured, as well as blood glucose concentration. Then, the cell death of glomerular vascular endothelial cells was measured with lactate dehydrogenase release (LDH) assay.
