摘要
The GUPIX package for processing particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) spectra has been updated and expanded, with emphasis on the 1-15 keV X-ray energy range accessed by silicon drift detectors. Several portions of the GUPIX database are modified or extended. The existing mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) dataset is now partnered with an alternative MAC dataset which improves PIXE's accuracy in analysis of light elements. Different approaches to characterizing a PIXE system are compared, with optimization of accuracy the objective. The suite of small supporting codes has been expanded and housed in a new format designed for ease of use. Detector description now includes both polymer and silicon nitride windows, each supported by grid structures. Two means of detecting and correcting for small departures from channel versus energy linearity are presented. An existing Monte Carlo code for prediction of detector intrinsic efficiency is updated and an improved interface is provided.
