Localized surface plasmon resonance effect driven fabrication of core/shell Au NRs@MnO2 nanosheets

This work proposes a controllable, green and facile strategy for preparing Au NRs@MnO2 core/shell nanosheets by photodeposition using the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect of gold nanorods (Au NRs). MnO2 is produced by the reduction of KMnO4 with the LSPR effect induced photoelectrons. Methanol as hole scavenger is found significant to restrain the oxidation of Au NRs and keeping the shape of Au nanorods. The electrochemical oxygen generation (OER) performance of the obtained Au NRs@MnO2 could be obviously promoted under proper irradiation and could be kept after 1000 cycles.
