Octave-Spanning Flattened Dispersive Slot Waveguide For On-Chip Chirped Pulse Amplification

A Si3N4 horizontal slot waveguide with SiO2 cladding is designed to achieve flat negative dispersion over an octave-spanning bandwidth. 448x temporal broadening can be achieved for a 10-fs pulse after a 5-cm waveguide propagation. Together with the inherent low nonlinearity, it could be a key building block in on-chip chirped pulse amplification system with <10-fs pulse and >10-kW peak power.
