Prospectivity modelling of Canadian magmatic Ni (±Cu ± Co ± PGE) sulphide mineral systems

•We present Canada’s first national mineral potential assessment.•Prospectivity model is based on public data and an open source workflow.•Conceptual mineral system models are translated to mappable criteria.•Gradient boosting machines outperforms other knowledge- and data-driven methods.•Results suggest that 8% of Canada contains more than 80% of known Ni mineralization.
