摘要
The choice of the optimal tire inflation pressure is always a conflict of aims. It has a significant influence on safety, comfort and environmental behavior. This paper discusses the experimental evaluation of tire inflation pressure influence on braking performance. The relevant study has been performed with a compact car test vehicle equipped with a Data Acquisition System and different sensors, especially with four wheel force transducers to evaluate forces and moments at the wheels during the braking process. Based on the ISO 21994 standard, full stop braking tests with and without ABS were carried out on a dry and a wet high mu asphalt road as well as on a wet tiled low grip track for 3 different tire inflation pressures. Results of the experimental analyses point out, that the tire inflation pressure has a significant influence on the braking performance. Consequently, a layout of a Tire Pressure Control System (TCPS) is suggested, designed and analyzed.
