Correlation between viscoelasticity of aluminosilicate melts and elastic properties of melt-spun fibers

•High temperature viscoelasticities of aluminosilicates are characterized.•Viscosities of melts are affected by the basicity, and inversely proportional to it.•Elastic modulus of fiber is proportional to the reciprocal of the shear modulus of melts.•Shear moduli (|G*|G'=G") influence the recovery of quenched melts while spun.
