Mental health help seeking in young people and carers in out of home care: A systematic review

•Young people in OOHC and carers are not engaging in mental health help-seeking.•Young people in OOHC prefer to seek mental health support from informal sources.•Barriers to help-seeking included stigma, service inaccessibility, confidentiality, lack of inclusion in decision making, and lack of understanding regarding circumstances in care by clinicians.
