The First Notes On Damage In Horticulture Made By Krynickillus Melanocephalus Kaleniczenko, 1851 (Gastropoda: Agriolimacidae) In Latvia

The information of pest status of Krynickillus melanocephalus in pumpkin gardens was confirmed during the studies for the first time in Latvia with slugs feeding with pumpkin fruit, but further research on its economic importance is necessary. Only two members from Agriolimacidae, Krynickillus melanocephalus and Deroceras reticulatum, have been confirmed as pests in agriculture until now. During studies, in 2016 the campaign was announced to invite land owners to report on slugs in their gardens and fields. The first experience gave also the first significant results, however, activity from local people was low therefore involvement of population in citizen science should be more promoted and activated in Latvia.
