Polysulfonamide (PSA) fiber belongs to polyamide aromatic polymer" materials. In order to study the termal stability of PSA, thermo gravimetric analysis was used to obtain the thermogravimetric progress of the fiber. The pyrolysates of the fiber were identified by pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and the thermal behavior was analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry. The results obtained from thermal decomposition process indicate that the existence of the conjugated aromatic rings and the additional sulfone group structure in its molecular main chain enable PSA fiber has high degradation temperature and can be applied to various fields in our daily life.
