Preparation and luminescence properties of Tb3+ doped and Tb3+/Sm3+ co-doped Na3Y(PO4)2 crystalline glass ceramics

The picture shows the emission spectra of y Sm2O3-0.5% Tb4O7 doped glass ceramics (GCs) excited at 378 nm. It can be observed that under the excitation of 378 nm, at 416 nm, 437 nm, 489 nm, 545 nm and 585 nm, respectively, the transitions of Tb3+ correspond to 5D3 → 7F4, 5D3 → 7F5, 5D4 → 7F6, 5D4 → 7F5, 5D4 → 7F5, 5D4 → 7F5, 5D4 → 7F4. At 564 nm, 600 nm and 648 nm corresponding to the characteristic transitions of Sm3+ from 4G5/2 to 6H5/2, 6H7/2 and 6H9/2, respectively. It can be seen that as the doping concentration of Sm2O3 increases, the characteristic emission of Tb3+ gradually decreases at 545 nm (5D4 → 7F5), while the emission intensities of Sm3+ at 564 nm (4G5/2 → 6H5/2), 600 nm (4G5/2 → 6H7/2) and 648 nm (4G5/2 → 6H9/2) were significantly enhanced. The emission intensity of ySm2O3-0.5% Tb4O7 doped GCs first increases and then decreases with the increase of Sm2O3 doping concentration.This phenomenon may be indicate that there has energy transfer from Tb3+ to Sm3+ in Sm2O3-Tb4O7 doped GCs.
