Can foliar-applied nutrients improve caraway (Carum carvi L.) seed oil composition?

•Effect of four nutrient foliar sprays on yield, essential oil, and fatty acid content of caraway seeds was studied.•Foliar sprays and cultivation year had a significant effect on the concentration of carvone, limonene, and some fatty acids.•Magnesium foliar spray increased seed yield on the second year of harvest.•Manganese foliar spray increased total fatty acid and limonene on the second year of harvest.
