Cognitive assessment evaluation of CSCL pedagogy based on NetGuru platform and CSPL pedagogy based on TAoD platform combined with IPOTA for network experiment

The paper was designed to investigate and compare the learning performance between the computer supported cooperative learning pedagogy in NetGuru network experimental platform with normal assignments and the computer supported personalized learning pedagogy in TAoD network experiment platform with IP-oriented template based assignments (IPOTAs). The target participants are the junior students enrolled in the “Network Engineering Lab (1)” course. There were totally 84 students from two classes in a university of science and technology. Participants had to complete 12 units of network experiments. They had to complete assignments for each unit, to attend computer-based midterm and final exams. The class of students participating in the IP-oriented template based assignments (IPOTAs) experiment also had to finish learning satisfaction questionnaires and learning performance questionnaires of the IP-oriented template based assignments (IPOTAs). An analysis was performed based on the scores they obtained in the assignments of the experiments, the scores they obtained in the exams of the experiments, and the questionnaires. The results show that the adoption of the IP-oriented template based assignments (IPOTAs) results in better scores and higher acceptance rate than the ordinary method. The proposed mechanism truly improved the learning performance of the network engineering lab course.
