This paper presents process and the implementation of process functions for adaptive lifetime estimation of mechanical assemblies used in variable operating conditions. The appearance of unpredictable factors makes lifetime estimation and condition monitoring difficult for machines. Nowadays, for example mobile work machines are very complex systems where multiple variables interact with each other. The approach of adaptive lifetime estimation is needed when multiple independent factors interact with each other randomly so fast that these generally determined cause-and-effect rules do not apply anymore. The suggested method for adaptive lifetime estimation takes into account multiple failure mechanisms at the same time, and it is based on simulation where input parameters are measured from real environment.
