摘要
Severe head trauma patients which need descompressive craniotomy (DC) frequently develop a high incidence of new lesions that worsen their prognosis. So, it is essential an early detection and effective treatment of such complications. In our Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we have realized a prospective study to analize the incidence of new lesions following DC, possible risks factors associated and the usefulness of a follow-up computerized tomography (CT) scan protocol during the first hours after surgery. With this protocol a new lesion were showed in 93% of patients and conditioned a second surgery in 36%.
