Generalized Pruritic Papules - Active Syphilis

A 63 year old patient complained for weeks itchy skin. For he complained of dysphagia and further erosion in the throat area, antibiotic therapy was initiated by the family doctor. But the complaints did not improve.The patient visited our clinic. Here we took some skin biopsies. In the histology we saw many plasma cells. So we continued the laboratory diagnostics. After this we could prove a syphilitic disease. The nodular lesions soon recovered with antisyphilitic treatment.
