The Regional Differences Of High-Tech Entrepreneurship And The Developing Trends: Based On Differences Among Provinces And Regions

This paper analyzed the growth characteristics of high-tech entrepreneurship among different provinces or cities in China between 1995 and 2006. Utilizing the weighted standard deviation, weighted coefficient of variation, weighted Gini coefficient and Theil index, the paper showed the current circumstances and developing trends of the provincial and regional differences. Evidences showed that the provincial and regional differences of high-tech entrepreneurship in China fluctuated between 1995 and 1999. The differences increased greatly after 1999 and the regional differences turned out to be the most important sources of such differences increases. The study supplies a new way of understanding the regional differences of high-tech entrepreneurship in our country and will hopefully be beneficial to the empirical studies of related fields.
