Application Of Web Beidou Terminal In Ship Monitoring And Ship-Shore Communication

Beidou satellite navigation system mainly provides the services of terminal location and messaging, the latter of which is its advantage. The system will be completed in 2020 and provide services globally. Currently, Beidou users on a ship which is equipped with Beidou have to share one single terminal. When a crew member uses message service, he/she needs to operate in the position where the terminal is placed, which is extremely inconvenient. Also the person may risk privacy leakage. In addition, the message service is still limited to manual operation of short messages - it has yet to integrate with other shipping information or data resources. Efficient transmission and sharing of information need to be developed. Shanghai Maritime University has successfully developed a Web version of Beidou terminal platform, which realizes diverse shipping information-sharing. Every user can enjoy the same services which the Beidou terminal on board provides in their own client, including query operation of the shipping data and communicating via messaging with ground control centers, other ground users, mobile users and other terminal users on board. At the same time the platform collects real time data of the ship hull and the environment (stress, angle, weather, traffic data, etc.), and sends out regularly after intelligent processing. Ground control centers and other users will share the real time data via the Internet. As shown in Figure 1, all users on board and on the ground, share data with a straightforward interface. The realization of the system will exploit the advantage of Beidou in communication, expand the potential of Beidou, and make Beidou services cover the entire Internet.
