Primary Fallopian Tube Carcinoma In A Patient With Crohn'S Disease And Chronic Salpingitis: Role Of Local Inflammation In Tumor Pathogenesis?

Primary carcinoma of fallopian tube is rare and difficult to diagnose on imaging. We report the case of a 51-year-old woman who was diagnosed with primary metastatic tubal carcinoma following monitoring of her active Crohn's disease. This patient had been diagnosed with chronic salpingitis on MRI a few years earlier. We review the diagnostic performances of the different imaging techniques in the preoperative diagnosis of these cancers and discuss the role of chronic salpingitis in the occurrence of primary fallopian tube carcinomas.
