Pan-Cancer Analysis And Applications

Abstract Extensive research has been done to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of cancer occurrence and progression. However, most of the studies are conducted independently on smaller sample sizes thereby limiting the essence of information that needs to come out of such studies. The International Cancer Genome Consortium hence made a group of researchers conducting such cancer analysis across various tumor types in order to generate a pan-cancer atlas. Data generated through these projects will enable in understanding the molecular aspects of cancer occurrence and further help in cancer prevention and designing cancer therapeutics. This chapter reviews information about the pan-cancer project and its key findings.
