Histological Regionalisation Of The Dorsal Scent Gland Of Collared Peccary (Artiodactyla, Tayassuidae: Pecari Tajacu)

The dorsal gland of males and females of collared peccary histologically was described in three regions: cranial, middle and caudal. With Hematoxylin-Eosin and Masson's Trichrome staining we show a clear morphological and histological regionalisation of this gland and is described for the first time the presence of tubulo-acinar glands in the cranial region of the dorsal gland in male peccaries, whose function is still unknown.
