Non-Marine Bivalve Mollusks From The Lower Permian Of Russky Island (Southern Primorye)

An association of non-marine bivalve mollusks from the Pospelovka Formation (Kungurian) of Russky Island is described. The mollusks are presented by the external cores and casts of the shells. The interior features and the material of the shells have not been preserved. In this connection, the collection was studied using a complex of external morphological features. The comparison of this association with the representatives of Palaeomutela Amalitzky, 1891, Palaeanodonta Amalitzky, 1891, Anthraconaia Trueman et Weir, 1946 led to the conclusion that non-marine bivalves of Russky Island may belong to a new genus, which is widespread in Lower Permian deposits, but have not yet been taxonomically described due to the mode of preservation which erased all clear internal features of the shells. The Carboniferous genus Anthraconaia may be considered as a probable ancestor of this new genus.
