Listing Candidate Causes

This chapter describes the process of developing the list of candidate causes. Strategies are described for refining the list and dealing with multiple causes. The construction and effective design of conceptual models are discussed not only for the purpose of describing and organizing candidate causes, but also to guide the derivation of evidence and communication of results.
