摘要
Social exclusion refers to denial to the social system access, rights and privileges that are generally available to everyone. In economic context, social exclusion is closely related to poverty, vulnerability and economic inequality issues. Social exclusion will widen the economic inequality and prevent inclusive and sustainable economic development. Therefore, this study aims to study the determining factors of social exclusion among society. By understanding the deteminants of social exclusion, appropriate intervention measures could be devised. This study uses a qualitative systematic review based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Relevant primary studies were obtained and identified using a systematic procedure based on two (2) primary online journal databases, namely Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus for descriptive and thematic analyses. The findings of this study indicate that the main determining factors of social exclusion among society are: human capital capabilities, demographics, economics and other factors. Hence, these identified factors need to be taken into consideration by the relevant policy makers in formulating a more holistic and comprehensive socio-economic development policy in order to achieve higher level of social inclusion among society in Malaysia.
