摘要
Corrosion is the characteristic degradation of materials by interaction with the operating environment. One of the important and widely adopted method to prevent corrosion is coatings on the materials. The intention of the present study is to understand the corrosion behaviour of Ni-Ag and Ni-Cu coatings using DC/RF magnetron co-sputtering technique onto stainless steel (Grade 304) substrates.. Thin film X-ray Diffraction method to decide the crystalline structure and provide information on unit cell dimensions. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopic method (FESEM) to produce a magnified image with high resolution. Atomic Force Microscopic method (AFM) to study the surface properties of the coated material. Electrochemical corrosion test to analyse the corrosion pattern of the coated materials. The results suggest that the surface modified SS304 exhibits better corrosion protection as compared with uncoated samples.
