摘要
In the case of new technology, user acceptance is significantly affected by its utility and usability. However, previous studies regarding gesture interfaces have been focused on usability while neglecting utility. In this study, an attempt was made to develop a gesture interface utility scale and also to analyze the relationship between the utility and user acceptance. We collected 12 utility items related to a gesture interface from the previous studies and surveyed the extent of gesture interface utility for visual display products while using them. The utility-scale was developed using the explorative factor analysis and was revised and verified using the confirmative factor analysis. The relationship between the gesture utility of the visual display products and the user acceptance was analyzed using a structural equation model. Therefore, the gesture utility scale comprised three factors of evaluation: contact-freeness, naturalness, and expressiveness. Among these factors, contact-freeness and expressiveness were observed to influence the user acceptance of the display products significantly.
