Numerical Study of Stroke Detection Using UWB Radar

The main purpose of this contribution is the design and feasibility study of a microwave imaging system based on the UWB radar working in the frequency band 1-8 GHz. For the simulation the 3D anatomical head phantom was used. Strokes of different sizes and in different positions were tested. The position of the stroke was estimated by processing reflected signals using delay and sum beamforming algorithm. According to the results the estimated position of the stroke was perfectly matched with the original stroke position. The system also responds to size of the stroke.
