摘要
The space-wave radiation characteristics of the vertical electric dipole antenna placed above a dielectric-coated impedance surface is investigated. The reflection from the dielectric-coated impedance surface is characterized using the generalized reflection approach using the impedance boundary condition. The resultant Sommerfeld integral equation is separated into the particular and homogeneous parts using the method of scattering superposition. The particular term is recast into the Richmond's form while the DCIM with GPOF technique is used to obtain the closed form of the integral corresponding to the homogeneous part. The current distribution on the dipole is thereafter obtained and the radiated far-field evaluated using method of steepest descent. The formulation can be used to evaluate the input-impedance and radiation characteristics of antennas over the sea, a lake under ice-cover or over the earth with a layer of cement or asphalt over the earth-surface.
