摘要
A two-temperature vapor charging method for PDMS-based canine training aids is developed for the detection of explosives. Heating the source explosive while cooling the absorptive PDMS phase enhances the capture and subsequent release of TNT vapors. The approach promises to speed the odor ‘charging’ process for less volatile targets. The method is investigated using vapor-phase SPME-ESIS measurements and in canine detection trials. The behavior of heavier-than-air odorants is also discussed with an eye toward training aid design.
