A Quad-Band Antenna With Easily Controlled Bands For Wireless Locations/Wlan/Wimax/Satcom Applications

This paper presents a novel design approach for quad-band antenna to meet the requirements of wireless locations/WLAN/WiMAX/SATCOM applications. The generation mechanism of the bands of the proposed antenna can be analyzed stepwise. Due to the independent band generation and concise layout, the frequency bands of the proposed antenna can be separately controlled. For demonstration, the proposed quad-band antenna is designed, fabricated and measured. The measured results show that four distinct operating bandwidths with 10 dB return loss are about 80MHz (2.69-2.77 GHz), 70MHz (3.61-3.68 GHz), 440MHz (5.8-6.24 GHz) and 1400MHz (7.5-8.9 GHz), respectively. It is easy to satisfy the required bandwidths for Wireless location, WiMAX, WLAN and satellite communications (SATCOM), respectively. Especially, the 5.8-6.2 GHz can also be used for C-band satellite communications. In addition, the radiation characteristics and peak gains of the bands are acceptable for applications. Good agreement can be achieve between the simulation and measurement.
