摘要
Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare neuroendocrine skin tumor. The present report describes the case of an 80-year-old patient with MCC of the head and neck which continued to metastasize rapidly after surgery combined with chemotherapy. Then the patient was treated with radiation therapy using a conventional segmentation scheme (50 Gy provided in 2 Gy per fraction and five fractions per week) targeting the gross tumor. The treatment led to complete tumor remission. This case indicates that radiotherapy for recurrent MCC yielded excellent local and regional metastasis control results.
