Mobile Android Apps In Ophthalmology: Systematic And Commercial Mapping

Mobile devices are increasingly being used among healthcare professionals and patients, allowing health care and the mHelth health concept or mobile health to become more relevant through available applications. These applications allow physicians to deepen their knowledge and help diagnose eye diseases; In the same way, it allows the patients to have the necessary information to know the attitude to be taken in front of a diagnosis emitted. The objective of this work is to analyze the state of the art of the focused Ophthalmology applications and to categorize them. To achieve the main objective of this research work, a review of the literature and analysis of commercial android applications will be carried out. We performed a review from 2000 until 2017 in PubMED, ACM and Cochrane the electronic databases. Afterwards, Ophthalmology applications will be analyzed in the Google Play Store for Android. 15 articles were selected according to their subject (management applications, administrative support, embedded system, training applications, tests / diagnostics and integral system) of a total of 58 found in the databases mentioned above. 223 mobile applications were found in the Google Play store since 2014. It can be concluded that most of the applications focused on the Diagnosis and Tests of diseases or ophthalmological pathologies with 53% in academic articles and 23% in the Play Store. The main market niche of commercial applications are patients who use the applications to diagnose possible pathologies before or after seeing a doctor.
