Characterization Of Fading Statistics On Sea Surface Roughness At A Fixed Source-To-Receiver Range

The received acoustic signal in underwater acoustic communication system will show a fading due to time-variant sea surface. In nominal sea surface fluctuation, fading statistics distribution depends on Rayleigh roughness parameter which is a function of wave height, frequency and an incident angle. In this study, fading statistics distribution in littoral ocean is characterized theoretically and experimentally based on the Rayleigh parameter.
