Autism Spectrum Disorder: Screening And Treatment

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social reciprocity and social communication and by the presence of restricted interests and repetitive behaviors. This chapter reviews recent advances in population-based screening of young children for ASD and empirically supported treatment models. The chapter concludes with recommendations for clinical practice and for further research.
