International Collaboration As A Way For The Understanding And Mitigation Of Environmental Problems: Experiences Of The Universities Of Havana And Rutgers-Camden

The role of universities facing the challenge of sustainable development is its contribution to train people with a culture and social attitude whose approach to this problem is not determine by professional, labor or temporary pressures, but where the environment and respect for it has become a value, a pattern of behavior. The establishment of a joint collaboration, both in the training of professionals and in scientific research between the universities of Havana, Cuba and Rutgers-Camden, United States of America, shows how the academic partnership is one the best ways to face, using the best resources of knowledge, the pressing environmental and social problems that the current world faces. The experiences of the joint work allowed to identify an area of knowledge insufficiently studied and of key importance to understand the dynamics of natural and human couplings in ecosystems.
