Objectives. Evaluation of incidence of Chlamydia trachomatis infection in smears from the cervical canal in women with cancer and inflammation.Material and methods. 119 swabs from the cervix was examined. The study was conducted with direct IF technique using reagent (PathfinderR C. trachomatis Direct Specimen test) BioRad.Results. Genital tract infection caused by C. trachomatis in women was diagnosed in 12 (10%).Conclusions. The low proportion of infected patients indicates weak or no direct relationship of C. trachomatis infection and the resultant changes in cancer and inflammation. Swabs from the cervical canal are easy to obtain and good material for testing for C. trachomatis by DIF.
