摘要

•Numeric scores are defined for Alzheimer’s disease severity (ADS) and for vascular disease severity (VDS).•The patients groups are: leukoaraiosis, subcortical ischemic vascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and mixed dementia.•ADS and VDS scores were orthogonally combined to give a double-dichotomy division of patients into these four groups.•Correlations of ADS and VDS scores with neuropsychological tests support the hypothesis of different dementia categories.
