Reducing tobacco use in substance use treatment: An intervention to promote tobacco-free grounds

•People with substance use disorder (SUD) experience disproportionate rates of tobacco use•The California Tobacco-Free for Recovery Initiative assisted SUD treatment programs in implementing tobacco-free policies•Results from cross-sectional data revealed that the intervention was associated with decreased client smoking prevalence•Increased receipt of NRT/pharmacotherapy was also observed•Additional strategies are needed to further integrate smoking cessation services in SUD treatment
