From NovaSAR-S to S250 Radar - Airbus New Space Payload Developments.

NovaSAR-1, equipped with an S-band radar instrument developed by Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth UK, was the first low cost radar imaging satellite; launched in September 2018 the satellite swiftly entered service with the mission partners and continues to offer nominal services. Since the launch of NovaSAR-1, advances in radar technology have evolved to allow Airbus to offer a low cost radar satellite with an increased performance-to-cost ratio. In this paper the authors present an overview of the developments from the NovaSAR instrument to the latest S250 offering.
