Bloodstream Infections and Outcomes Following Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation: A Single-Center Study

•The incidence of bloodstream infection (BSI) in 651 adults who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation at our institution was 55.0%, and the overall mortality rate attributed to this complication was 7.5%.•Despite the relatively low mortality attributed to BSI, those patients diagnosed with BSI had a higher risk of mortality, secondary to other post-transplantation complications.•The inclusion of post-transplantation cyclophosphamide as part of graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis was an independent risk factor for BSI during the early post-transplantation follow-up.
