Ribonucleotide reductase subunit M2 is a potential prognostic marker and therapeutic target for soft tissue sarcoma

•RRM2 is highly expressed in STS cells and tissues and acts as an oncogene.•It is associated with decreased overall survival and disease-free survival of STS.•It induces oncogenicity by promoting cell growth, colony formation, and metastasis.•RRM2 silencing arrests G0/G1 cell cycle phase, induces apoptosis, DNA fragmentation.•This is a potential therapeutic target for STS and could also be for other cancers.
